Patek, Rolex and Co. achieved USD 30M

The „Rare Watches“ auction by Christie’s was sold 98% by lot and achieved CHF26,513,004 / US$29,713,124.

Clients came from 47 countries of which 27% were new clients. Bidding and buying came from all parts of the world with 52% from Europe and the Middle East, 15% from the Americas and 33% from Asia. A total of 6 watches sold above CHF1 million and further 4 watches sold above CHF500,000.

The auction offered multiple iconic vintage watches, including a large selection of timepieces made by Rolex for the Sultanate of Oman, The iconic Patek Philippe reference 2499 first series and 2497R wristwatches or a selection of watches by independent watchmakers.

The top lot of the sale was Lot 84, the stainless-steel limited edition Patek Philippe for Tiffany & Co. sold for CHF2,233,000 / US$2,498,876, followed by Lot 132, an incredible Patek Philippe Ref. 2499 first series selling for CHF1,618,000 / US$1,954,811 vs estimates ofCHF1.2 to 1.8 million and Lot 138, the Patek Philippe Ref. 3974 2497R selling for CHF1,918,00 / US$1,818,795 vs estimates of CHF1.2 to 1.9 million.

 

Patek Philippe for Tiffany & Co. sold for CHF2,233,000

The Rolex section was highlighted by lot 31, an exceptional rare Daytona chronograph watch with diamond-set bezel and a diamond and sapphire set dial and bracelet, ref 6269, made in circa 1985 for the Sultanate of Oman, sold for CHF1,134,000 / US$1,274,730. The further 6 vintage and modern pieces once ordered by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said, the Sultan of Oman at Rolex, showcasing either the Khanjar emblem or the signature of the Sultan sold 100%
